We are sharing an important report from CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis) that outlines the sequence of events during the first three days of Operation Rising Lion. As you continue to pray into the situation (Prayer points can be located at the end of this report), it’s vital to be equipped with clear and accurate information. Founded in 1982, CAMERA is a respected media-monitoring and research organization committed to ensuring fair and factual coverage of Israel and the Middle East. Dear Friends of Israel,
It has been an intense three days for the State of Israel and for everyone who cares about the safety, security and future of the Jewish people. Since the launch of Operation Rising Lion at 3:00 am on Friday morning, June 13 (Israel time), the Israeli Air Force has continued its pre-emptive assault on Iranian nuclear and military targets, as well as high-ranking military personnel, with great success. According to Israeli officials, this operation was necessary now because Iran had reached the point of being able to immediately produce 15 nuclear bombs. Israel had no choice but to attack because as we know, Iran repeatedly declares its intent to annihilate the Jewish State with just such a bomb.
Highlights of Israel’s victories in the last 72 hours
In the first day of Operation Rising Lion, Israel caused extensive damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Parchin, Natanz, and Fordow. At Natanz, the surprise attack occurred so suddenly the centrifuges were still spinning, causing them to be broken into many small pieces. At Fordow, “certain components” were attacked, but a more complete destruction is necessary in order to eliminate Fordow’s capabilities.
On Friday night, Israel gained control of the air space over the capital city of Tehran. According to a security source: “The road to Tehran has been breached, we have removed almost all threats along the way with a series of strikes.” That night, 70 fighter jets flew unhindered over Tehran for two and a half hours and hit more than 50 targets including missiles and missile launching sites.
The Israeli Air Force also hit Iran’s international airport near Tehran Friday night and since then, has attacked two additional international airports in Hamadan and Tabriz.
By Saturday afternoon Israel time, the Air Force had attacked the nuclear facilities of Abadan in southwest Iran, Kermanshah (southwest of Tehran), and Khorramabad in western Iran, as well as the Iranian Air Force’s tactical base near Hamadan, destroying most of the regime’s F-4E and RF-4E (Phantom) fighter jets.
Israel has assassinated virtually all the senior scientists and experts involved in advancing the Iranian regime’s plan to obtain nuclear weapons, all of whom had decades of cumulative experience in such development. These eliminations were the result of accurate intelligence gathered by the Intelligence Branch and combined actions on the part of the Mossad and Israeli Air Force.
Hundreds of ballistic missiles have been destroyed so far, dramatically reducing Iran’s ability to barrage Israel. Many launching sites have been eliminated as well. In contrast to Iran’s original plans to launch hundreds of these weapons at a time, the attacks on Israel the last couple of days have consisted of dozens per attack – rather than hundreds – thanks to Israel’s pre-emptive strikes on missile supplies and launchers.
In addition to destroying existing missiles and launchers, Israel has attacked missile production sites, severely limiting Iran’s ability to produce more weapons. On Saturday, IAF fighter jets struck underground storage tunnels for surface-to-surface and cruise missiles, while continuing to target launchers – without which, missiles are useless.
On Sunday, Israel continued to eliminate top Iranian officials, including the head of Intelligence and his second-in-command, and numerous government offices in Tehran. Conversion facilities in Isfahan, essential for the building of nuclear weapons, have also been destroyed.
Iran’s retaliation
Iran is retaliating by shooting drones and ballistic missiles, primarily directed at Israel’s population centres near Tel Aviv. However, in the middle of the night on Friday, alerts were activated all over Israel from Dan in the north to the Negev and Gaza Envelope in the south. Specific areas under attack include Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, all of the Galilee region, all of the Golan, Mount Carmel, and the Dead Sea. By early Saturday morning, Iran had launched approximately 150 ballistic missiles at the Jewish State.
The good news is that Israel has had a 97% success rate of intercepting everything fired from Iran thanks to extensive defence systems, including Arrow 3 interceptors that destroy ballistic missiles miles above the earth.
In spite of all the interceptions, there have been direct hits in residential areas. A missile fell in Bat Yam near Tel Aviv Saturday night, and as of this writing, there are 10 or 11 casualties, including 4 children. Over 200 are injured and 3 are still missing.
Speaking from the site of the attack on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “We are here because we are in an existential struggle, which is now understandable to all citizens of Israel. Think about what would happen if Iran had nuclear weapons to land on Israeli cities. Think about what would happen if Iran had 20,000 such missiles. Not one – 20,000 of them. An existential threat to Israel. That is why we went on a war of salvation against a double threat of annihilation, and we are doing it with pride. Our soldiers, our pilots above the skies of Iran. Iran will pay a very heavy price for the murder of civilians, women, children, which they did intentionally.”
Missile attacks from Iran continued throughout the day Sunday and into Sunday night. A couple of projectiles in the latest barrage fell in the Tel Aviv and Haifa area, resulting in a number of reported casualties, many more injuries, and damage to multiple buildings.
It is important to point out that Iranian barrages are intentionally aimed at the civilian population, as ordered by Ayatollah Khamenei, head of the Iranian terrorist regime. By way of contrast, Israel is making precision strikes on military leadership and military and nuclear sites, while warning civilians to get away from targeted sites before they are destroyed.
Watch this very short video, produced by the IDF, to see the stark contrast between Iranian and Israeli methodology during war.
Israel’s successes and next steps
In just 3 days, Israel has gained complete control of the airspace over Iran’s capital and most of the country as well. The IAF and Mossad have eliminated key nuclear scientists, IRGC generals, and important infrastructure. In addition, more than 170 targets and 720 military infrastructure components have been hit in order to cripple Iran’s nuclear weapons capabilities.
Early Sunday evening, about 200 fighter jets took off from Israel, indicating the attacks on Iran are far from over. The Air Force continues to attack military sites across Iran, including missile stockpiles, launchers, and production sites for missiles and aerial defence systems.
Current estimates suggest it will require approximately two more weeks to achieve the objectives of Operation Rising Lion. In light of this, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has declared a nationwide state of emergency until June 30th and Israel’s airspace will remain closed until at least June 21st.
It is important to remember, now more than ever, that Israel’s ultimate goal is to live at peace in its ancient homeland. However, peace can only be realized through strength – especially in a volatile region such as the Middle East. For the sake of its future peace and security, Israel must completely destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile bases, stockpiles and production, thereby removing these threats to the survival of the Jewish State.
Please continue to pray for wisdom for Israel’s leaders and protection for every Israeli – all those involved in the war effort and all those who have to repeatedly take refuge in bomb shelters all hours of the day and night.
