Following a recent statement by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the UK government has signalled its intent to support the recognition of a Palestinian state. We at Prayer for Israel believe it raises grave spiritual and moral concerns.
As Christians who honour God’s Word and love His covenant people, we must view this decision through the lens of Scripture. Israel is the key part of God’s eternal promise to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Genesis 17:7–8).
Supporting the creation of a Palestinian state, especially one that does not renounce violence or recognise Israel’s right to exist, is a dangerous path that threatens the peace and security of Israel.
❌ Why This Decision is Deeply Concerning
- It legitimises terror: Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, and other factions glorify terrorism and teach hatred towards Jews. Granting statehood without a change of heart is rewarding extremism.
- It endangers Israel’s safety: A state on Israel’s doorstep controlled by groups who do not recognise her right to exist would compromise national security and put innocent lives at risk.
- It opposes God’s promises: Dividing the land is a serious offence against God’s covenant with Israel. Joel 3:2 warns against those who “divide up My land.”
- It empowers anti-Israel agendas: The campaign for a Palestinian state has often gone hand-in-hand with rising antisemitism. This decision risks feeding that hatred.
- It misrepresents peace: Lasting peace cannot be built on lies, denial of history, or compromise of truth. Real peace requires justice, repentance, and a foundation in truth.

- Pray for Israel’s protection – that God would shield the land and people from political and spiritual attacks.
- Pray for UK leaders – for wisdom and a fear of the Lord in every decision regarding Israel.
- Pray for exposure of lies – that the global community would see through propaganda and reject hatred disguised as diplomacy.
- Pray for a united Church – that Christians in the UK would boldly stand with Israel and speak biblical truth in love.
- Pray for peace in Jerusalem – not through man’s strategy, but through God’s purposes being fulfilled in His land.
