Pre-Dawn Rockets and Recent Adventures

Very early Sunday morning, Dani ran into our living room to tell me that Israel had just attacked Hezbollah preemptively. “The IAF (Israel Air Force), in a pre-dawn preemptive raid in southern Lebanon on Sunday, struck at thousands of rocket launchers that were poised and timed to fire at Israel at 5:00 am, preventing a major Hezbollah attack and its ‘revenge’ for last month’s killing of its chief of staff, Fuad Shukr” (The Jerusalem Post). I had been hearing a lot of action in the skies outside our apartment the night before, but hadn’t paid any attention to it as we’re used to the sound of planes flying northward overhead.

After Dani told me what happened, I started filling up buckets in case the electricity would go off and the pumps wouldn’t be able to get water to our 4th floor apartment. A fully loaded Apache helicopter appeared by our terrace and made big circles around our neighborhood, the sea, and the surrounding army bases. We waited, but no strike on Haifa came. However, Hezbollah did send over 320 rockets and drones into primarily civilian areas in northern Israel causing minimal damage.

We are tremendously thankful that the IAF disabled those rocket launchers before they could strike and that our planes returned safely to their bases. Like what happened in mid-April when Iran sent hundreds of missiles and drones, the Lord again thwarted an attack which would have been directed at some of Israel’s most critical intelligence centers. But with all the relief we felt on this day of victory, we know there is still much to be resolved as our enemies continue to cry out for retaliation, many thousands of residents of northern Israel are unable to return to their homes, and our hostages are still imprisoned in unimaginable conditions in Gaza.

No one can predict what will happen in the coming weeks, but in these days of waiting, our hearts’ desire is to bring glory to God and to see His Kingdom advanced.
