While global headlines focus on political maneuvers and diplomatic statements, a grim reality continues to unfold in Israel. In recent days, sirens have blared across Sderot and neighboring communities near the Gaza border, as well as in central Israel, warning of incoming rocket fire. Hamas and the Iran-backed Houthis have been relentless in their attacks, yet much of the world remains silent.
Pastor Michael Beener of Sderot City of Life Church took to Facebook to share a stark reminder of the ongoing threat:
“You don’t hear this in the news! Sirens have gone off in Sderot and neighboring communities near the Gaza border, as well as in the center of the country, multiple times in recent days as Hamas and the Houthis continue to launch rockets. Pray for our communities and the hostages!”

For those living in Sderot, rocket sirens have become an all-too-familiar sound. This city, located just a mile from Gaza, has endured years of relentless attacks, forcing families to seek shelter within seconds of an alarm. The situation remains dire as Israel faces not only ongoing barrages from Hamas but also increasing threats from the Houthis in Yemen, further escalating regional tensions.
The World’s Silence vs. The Call to Prayer
Despite these attacks, international media coverage remains minimal, often focusing on political narratives rather than the suffering of those on the ground. The absence of global outrage raises troubling questions: Why is terrorism against Israeli civilians so often ignored? Why is there a double standard when it comes to condemning violence?
As Christians, we cannot turn a blind eye to this reality. The Bible calls us to stand in the gap through prayer and intercession. Let us pray for:
- Protection over Israeli communities facing constant threats.
- The safe return of the hostages still held in Gaza.
- Wisdom for Israel’s leaders in defending their people.
