For 35 years, the Peniel School in Tiberias has been a beacon of biblical education for Messianic believers in Israel. As the only school in all of Galilee providing an education grounded in both the Old and New Testaments, it has played a vital role in nurturing young minds in faith and knowledge. Now, this cherished institution faces closure by order of the Israeli Ministry of Education, citing small student numbers as the reason.
Why This Matters
The Peniel School has successfully educated over 500 children since its founding in 1989, providing grades 1-6 with a curriculum that integrates faith and academic excellence. The closure of this school would not only disrupt the education of current students but also remove a critical resource for the Messianic community in Israel.
As believers, we recognize the importance of preserving Christian education and standing with our brothers and sisters in Israel who face challenges to their faith. This is not merely about one school but about maintaining the right for Messianic believers to raise their children in a biblical environment.
How PFI Is Taking Action
At Prayer for Israel, we feel called to follow this issue closely as part of our mandate to support and uphold the body of Christ in Israel. We are actively working to support the school by raising awareness and mobilizing prayer and advocacy. We have launched a petition urging the Israeli Ministry of Education and the Israeli Embassy in the UK to reverse this decision.
