The Lies in the World and the Sin in the Land

Message by Rick Franckeiss – 11 August 2025 Prayer Gathering

Introduction
At our 11 August 2025 prayer gathering, we were blessed to hear from Rick Franckeiss, who brought a heartfelt and challenging word on Israel, the nations, and the Church. His theme was a “two-pronged attack of prayer”: addressing the lies in the world and the sin in the land. With both clarity and urgency, Rick urged us to intercede with discernment, courage, and faithfulness.

A Two-Pronged Focus

Good evening to you all. It’s a wonderful privilege to be asked to share what’s been on my heart for the last few weeks regarding Israel and the nations.

I’d like us to focus tonight on what I’m calling a two-pronged attack of prayer — and the clue is in the title: “The Lies in the World” and “The Sin in the Land.”

The first is easy for us to understand — we’d have to be asleep not to see the lies, antisemitism, and propaganda flooding around the world. The second is harder for those of us who love Israel to take in. But if we want God’s people to be blessed, they do need to “clean up their act.” That will be part of our focus this evening.

A Time of Falling Away

I think you’ll agree we are witnessing a “falling away,” as the Bible says, a departure from the truth in the latter days. I’ve often thought of that in terms of the Church — Christians falling away — and that is true. But I’ve rarely thought of it from the world’s point of view.

The western nations are rapidly turning away from the truth. Biblical principles, the institutions and doctrines built on them, and even nations founded upon them are crumbling before our eyes.

We are living in a significant moment in history. This is not “just another prayer gathering.” The Lord has called us here for a time such as this.

Children of Light

In 1 Thessalonians 5:4–6 we read:

“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”

In context, this speaks of the end of the age, the Lord’s return, the day of Jacob’s trouble. But the principle applies to every day leading up to that point.

Supporting this, I would point you to John 8:44–45, Leviticus 26, Deuteronomy 28, Zechariah 12–14, Daniel 9–12, and, essentially, the whole book of Revelation — which we should “chew and digest” in these days.

The Lies in the World

The world has always been under the power of the wicked one, but nations that once held to biblical truths are now energised by a tsunami of anti-Israel propaganda unlike anything since the 1930s.

As someone once said, “A lie will travel around the world before the truth has even got out of bed.” And we shouldn’t be surprised — the god of this world is “the father of lies.”

In John 8:44–45, Jesus told the religious leaders:

“You are of your father the devil… there is no truth in him… he is a liar and the father of it.”

Whether it’s politicians, celebrities, or legacy media — BBC, CNN, Sky — the lies are relentless. Even worse, parts of the Church have joined the “kick Israel” bandwagon.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center publishes a “list of shame” each year. Iran was number one. Hamas was number two. Number three? The BBC — listed alongside the haters of Israel, the God of Israel, and even Christianity itself.

The Sin in the Land

If we are honest, much of what has happened to the Jews through history — and is happening now — is the result of the curse of the law (Leviticus 26, Deuteronomy 28). Like in the days of Judges and the Babylonian captivity, God may allow neighbouring nations to be His agents of correction. But He always defends, restores, and ultimately destroys those who attack His people.

God does have a controversy with His people over their rejection of the Messiah — yet Satan’s goal is their destruction. And we must be aware: the same spirit of antisemitism will turn, and is turning, against Bible-believing Christians.

False Peace and the Stage Being Set

We hear much about “peace” — Donald Trump’s peace plans, peace accords. But 1 Thessalonians 5:3 warns:

“When they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them…”

There will be no lasting peace between Israel and her neighbours before Messiah returns. Instead, the stage is being set for the false peace described in Daniel, Zechariah, and Revelation.

At some point, Israel will make a covenant with the Antichrist — leading to the abomination of desolation. Until then, the best we can hope for is temporary periods of respite, as in the days of King Josiah.

The Real Battle and Our Strategy

General Gershon Hacohen, an Israeli general, has said: “Make no mistake, the Islamists are fighting a spiritual war… jihad is a continuous and ongoing struggle until victory.”

So, how do we fight? The answer is the same as it has always been:

“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news” (Isaiah 52:7).

The Gospel of Jesus Christ must remain central. Without it, there is little point in our efforts.

Prayer Points

  1. Believers in Israel – Pray they hold to biblical truth and are not swayed by false teaching, such as the New Apostolic Reformation (Tikkun in Israel).
  2. Unity in the Church – Pray against division, as the enemy seeks to divide and conquer believers in the land.
  3. Aliyah from the USA – Pray for the return of Jews to Israel, especially in light of rising antisemitism in America.
  4. Sovereignty over Judea and Samaria – Pray for God’s purposes in this contested biblical heartland.
  5. Proclamation of the Gospel – Pray the message of salvation is heard in every town and city in Israel.
  6. Repentance among secular Jews – Pray they turn from immorality and idolatry to the Lord.
  7. Those deceived by false religion – Pray for salvation for those in Islam, Baháʼí, Druze, and Eastern practices.
  8. Orthodox and ultra-Orthodox Jews – Pray for the veil to be lifted so they see Yeshua as Messiah.
  9. The Body of Christ in the UK – Pray the Church wakes up to this time of deception, stands for truth, and redeems the time.

A Final Word

Even if we don’t win every earthly battle, we are commanded to fight the good fight. Victory in Christ is certain. Now is the time to pray with focus, speak boldly, and live in readiness for the Lord’s return.
