Prayer for Israel

The Rising Lion: A Call to Watch and Pray

This past week, intercessors from around the world gathered once again to pray fervently for Israel as the nation navigates an increasingly complex and dangerous military situation. Hanna Haustein, a long-standing voice of discernment and encouragement in our community, shared an urgent and Spirit-led update on the current developments from Israel’s perspective.

Drawing from Scripture and prophetic insight, Hanna emphasised both the visible and unseen battles taking place from the physical frontlines in Gaza and Iran to the spiritual strongholds that believers are called to tear down in prayer. She spoke with clarity, faith, and humility, reminding us of God’s sovereignty and the vital role we play as watchmen on the walls.

Below is a full transcript of Hanna’s message, lightly edited for clarity and grammar. May her words stir your heart to continued intercession and deepen your understanding of how Scripture is unfolding before our eyes.

Hanna Haustein Transcript (Refined)

Well, good evening. It’s really lovely to be with all you prayer warriors—our fellow brothers and sisters—standing with us at this time.

As you know, we are truly in need of much prayer. But I believe that a lot has already been accomplished through your intercession, and we want to continue in that. So tonight, I’d like to share just a few points that have recently been impressed on my heart.

First of all, I want to acknowledge how quickly the military events are unfolding. For example, just two days ago, as many of you know, the United States bombed the three most important nuclear sites in Iran. I’m sure most of you are well-informed about the facts of the war, so I’ve decided to navigate this evening’s message mainly through Scripture.

Now, regarding the name of this crucial campaign against Iran—we’ve been told it’s called Rising Lion. However, it could actually be more accurately translated from Hebrew as the nation as a lioness or a lion. The Hebrew word lavi can mean either. The name is taken from Numbers 23:23–24, where Balaam, instead of cursing Israel, prophesied Israel’s fierce self-defense with these words:

“It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel,
‘Oh, what God has done!’
Look, a people rises like a lioness,
And lifts itself up like a lion;
It shall not lie down until it devours the prey.”
(Numbers 23:23–24, NKJV)

Balaam reiterates this in Numbers 24:9:

“He bows down, he lies down as a lion;
And as a lion, who shall rouse him?
Blessed is he who blesses you,
And cursed is he who curses you!”
(Numbers 24:9, NKJV)

He was repeating the very promise that God had given to Abraham.

In nature, we observe that lionesses do the hunting. The male lion usually only joins when the prey is too large—like a buffalo—for the lionesses to bring down. Then the male steps in to deliver the death blow. In the same way, it is the Lion of Judah—Messiah Yeshua—and the God of Israel who are behind any success we have on the battlefield.

Even though the IDF may believe they are fighting solely for our national survival, we know that they are also—perhaps unknowingly—helping to establish the Word of the Lord and His reshaping of the entire Middle East.

I want to praise the Lord that our nation and its leaders are acknowledging the God of Israel’s intervention. In the synagogues, they are reading Psalm 118, which begins:

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.”
(Psalm 118:1, NKJV)

And just yesterday, Prime Minister Netanyahu went to the Western Wall to thank the Lord for His salvation. So I truly believe that our people are becoming increasingly aware that God is fighting for us.

As believers, we have been given a mandate to wage war in the spiritual realm, as we read in 2 Corinthians 10:4:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
(2 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV)

Therefore, we want to begin pulling down the stronghold of the Prince of Persia over Iran—which is the ancient Elam—by declaring the Word of God from Jeremiah 49:35–39.

With our Air Force now launching missile attacks into Iran, we are witnessing the fulfillment of Jeremiah 49:35:

“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Behold, I will break the bow of Elam,
The foremost of their might.’”
(Jeremiah 49:35, NKJV)

This is precisely what’s happening. These “bows” refer to the rocket launchers of Elam. Without them, they cannot fire their missiles—like arrows—at us.

As we speak, Israel is still conducting bombings in Tehran. We have even returned to Fordo and re-targeted that area. Our priority is to take out the rocket launchers. Reports suggest that we’ve already destroyed 60% of them, but many are mobile and underground, making them harder to detect.

Now, according to Iran’s own admission, 450 kg of enriched uranium had been moved before America struck the Fordo nuclear facility. We also estimate that they still possess around 1,800 ballistic missiles hidden in various locations. So we are by no means out of danger.

We must pray that the Lord will reveal every hidden location. We do have good intelligence on the ground, but we ask the Lord to lead those efforts and help uncover these sites.

Let us also pray for the continued success of our Air Force in crippling Iran’s missile capabilities—and especially for the safety of our pilots. They are flying long distances—almost 2,000 kilometers—to reach Iran. They’re flying non-stop with little time for rest between sorties. So we ask for their protection, and for the restoration of their strength and energy.

On another front, the IDF is still fighting in Gaza. The war there drags on, as we move cautiously to minimize civilian casualties and avoid endangering the lives of our hostages—of whom we know at least 50 are still being held. We’re not certain how many are still alive.

Now that Gaza’s sponsor—Iran—has been directly struck, we may be drawing closer to the end of the Gaza war. So we are praying that the dismantling of Hamas infrastructure and influence will be completed without endangering Israeli hostages.

However, we are low on manpower. Our reservists are being deployed repeatedly and are suffering from exhaustion. I don’t know if you’re aware, but many people in Israel—not just soldiers—are suffering from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder).

And I don’t know if you’re aware, but there are really many people in Israel—not only our soldiers—who suffer from PTSD, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Even among the civilians, there are a lot of people who are traumatized and shaken, especially in the areas near the Gaza border.

So, we want to pray for the Lord to restore those who are traumatized, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually. We pray for His healing presence to minister deeply to them.

Now, on the third front, which is in the north, things are escalating. We are expecting that there could be a full-blown war any day. Hezbollah is continuing to provoke and fire rockets every day, and the IDF is responding. So far, it’s been a sort of limited engagement, but we don’t know how long that will last.

Please continue to pray for the northern communities who have had to evacuate. Thousands of families are displaced and are currently being housed in hotels or temporary accommodations. Their situation is very difficult, especially for the children. They’ve been away from home for months now, and many of them don’t know when—or if—they will return.

We also want to pray for the border towns, like Metula and Kiryat Shmona, which are completely empty. These are ghost towns now, and their economies are devastated. So we ask the Lord to protect the land and restore the people there. May He guard every border and frustrate the plans of our enemies.

Now, finally, I want to encourage you to remember God’s Word to us. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) says:

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

We have that promise, and we can rely on it. God is our strength and our shield. He goes before us. And even in the midst of all this warfare, both physical and spiritual, He is faithful.

So thank you again, dear friends and prayer warriors, for standing with us. We feel your prayers. We truly do. They are making a difference. And together, we will continue to intercede and proclaim the victory of our Lord.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. Amen.
