Prayer for Israel

Why is it always the Jews?

The other night, my friend and I were watching a film that depicted the horrors of the concentration camps during World War II. At one point, he turned to me and asked a simple but deeply unsettling question:
“Why is it always the Jews?”

He’s agnostic – not someone who reads the Bible. And yet, even he recognises a chilling pattern that stretches through history.

Why is it always the Jews?

I told him, “Because the Jews are God’s chosen people. The Bible not only reveals this truth but also tells us of the hatred they would face throughout history.”

This persecution is not new. It’s been global, relentless, and persistent for thousands of years – from Pharaoh to Haman, from the Romans to Hitler, and now again today in modern democracies, universities, and city streets.

And here’s the hard truth:
Satan hates what God loves.

Israel, the Jewish people, described in Scripture as “the apple of His eye” — are treasured by God. So it’s no surprise that Satan stirs hatred against them, time and time again.

Global Trend:

  • In April 2025, 554 antisemitic incidents were reported worldwide—on pace for ~6,378 this year, exceeding 2024’s record of 6,326.
  • 2024 saw a 107.7% rise in global antisemitic incidents compared to 2023.
  • UK: Over 4,000 incidents in 2023 (up from ~1,500 in 2022); 3,528 recorded in 2024.

These numbers are frightening to see, but we take comfort that we have spiritual weapons at our disposal – powerful through God to demolish strongholds:

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”
(2 Corinthians 10:4)

We know that this persecution will come – and yet, through it, we also know that the Jewish people will come to know their Messiah.

Now is the time to stand in the gap for Israel and for the Jewish people worldwide.

Will we stand firm? Will we pray, speak, and act? Will we be a light in this growing darkness?

Let us proclaim boldly and without shame:

The Jewish people will be covered in prayer.
They are not alone.
